About Elite Community Gym

We are proud to host a social enterprise at our centre which aims to reach out to the most in need and provide boxing, fitness and self-defence training. We provide diversionary activities for many disadvantaged young people across Greater Manchester.

After the covid-19 pandemic an opportunity came where the unit became available to rent, this wasn’t an easy decision due to covid and the shutdowns across the country as it was uncertain on how long gyms were going to be shut for but we made the decision to make a difference in our community and took the lease on. We started delivering free meals to those struggling over the pandemic, we had a huge pool of volunteers who offered a help in hand which allowed us deliver hundreds of meals to the less fortunate.

This wasn’t an easy decision but with the help of our staff and members from www.eliteboxing.co.uk which was took over by the owners Sean and Alex in 2003 and in that time built up a formidable reputation and helped so many individuals and charities it wasn’t hard to get help as we had noticed when starting delivering food.

As well as delivering free meals to the local community we were also ripping out and gutting the unit, we had to pull walls down, scrape and paint walls, sand and paint the floor then re building the gym from scratch from the floor upwards.

We offer a range of free physical activities including boxing (from children to over 50s), mental health and well-being discussion groups (Rickys Club), Recovery Club which aims to help Transforming Lives and encourage fitness and mental wellbeing.

We believe that if we replace toxic mental habits with positive, constructive, physical discipline, we can stop bad behaviour before it erupts. In many cases, young people lash out because they’re frustrated by a problem that’s too big for them. They haven’t yet learned how to control their impulses, or work out conflicts in socially acceptable ways. Our coaches provide vital tools to tackle the challenges in their lives, sessions are a hook for change: it gives young people a place to hang out and develop themselves, while also diverting those who might otherwise get involved in crime.
