Halliwell Trio Gregory, Lane and Ramson Earn North West Selection For Gambia Trip

Halliwell ABC fighters Jack Gregory, Sam Lane and Max Ramson have all earned themselves a call-up to the North West regional squad to compete in The Gambia this November.

The three experienced Halliwell boxers have been selected in the 15-man squad which will travel to The Gambia for bouts on November 14th.

This marks an incredible opportunity for all three dedicated senior fighters, who will be relishing their shot at international amateur boxing experience in Africa.

One of Halliwell ABC’s more experienced senior fighters, Gregory, is excited about the upcoming trip, where he will add to his previous international match-ups.

“I am absolutely over the moon to be selected for the North West squad for their trip to Gambia in November,” said Gregory after his call-up.

“I’m so proud to be able to go and represent, not only the region but Halliwell ABC with my teammates, including close friend Sam Lane, because we are products of the gym.

“It has shaped us and helped us not just in boxing but in our lives as a whole. We wouldn’t be half the boxers or people we are without the gym, and I want to go and be a role model for the younger boxers who train here.”

Gregory’s teammate and close mate, Lane, has been constantly improving at Elite Boxing Gym through his hard work and dedication, and he will be hoping to showcase his credentials in November too.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to box in Gambia in November,” stated Lane. “I’m very blessed to have great coaches at Elite, who always give me opportunities like this and prepare me for these.

“I know it will be difficult; I have watched Gambian national fighters and noticed a lot make up for their lack of skill and ability with strength and willpower, but I am confident I can go over and gain a great experience and come away with a win.”

Completing the trio of Halliwell talents taking to The Gambia, heavy-hitter Ramson will also look to continue building his growing reputation on his international ventures.

“I’m buzzing about going on the Gambia trip,” Ramson added. “What a big achievement it’s going to be to represent my region in a once-in-a-lifetime trip like this.

“It’s going to be a great experience travelling away with a team, and I’m grateful to have been chosen.”

All three men will be jetting off later this year for their international contests, but there will be plenty more local fights before then, including the upcoming first home show of the season in September.
